Our Story

Rangeworthy Singers has a story that's all about friendship, determination, and a shared love of singing.

Our journey began in 2024 when Grenville Jones, founder of more than 50 community choirs across the South West, established a choir in the village of Rangeworthy, South Gloucestershire. From the very beginning, it brought together people of all ages, backgrounds, and musical experience - from complete beginners to those who had sung in choirs before. What united us wasn't perfection, but the simple joy of making music together.

In January 2025, Grenville sadly had to step back from some of his commitments due to ill health, and the Rangeworthy choir was one of the groups affected. Faced with the prospect of losing something that had quickly become such an important part of our lives, we decided we weren't ready to let it end.

Instead, we took a leap of faith and created Rangeworthy Singers.

We were delighted when our wonderful accompanist, Chris Green, agreed to become our Musical Director. A committee was formed, everyone pitched in, and together we built a new choir from the ground up.

Looking back, it's incredible to see what we've achieved in such a short time. In just one year we've performed at concerts, supported local events and charities, made new friends and, most importantly, continued to share the enjoyment of singing with our community.

Today, our members come from Rangeworthy and the surrounding villages and towns, united by a love of singing, friendship, and community.

Rangeworthy Singers is a welcoming, community-led choir, created by its members for its members and for everyone who enjoys singing.

We're proud of what we've built together, and we're excited to see where the next chapter takes us.
